SA Tourism Picks Stella Creek for Photo Shoot

If you’ve visited Stella Creek in the past 5 days, you might have seen some rows in our front orchard blocked off. Yep! We were trying to protect the fruit on these trees. But not because they werent ripe but because these rows had been selected by SA Tourism last week as the site for one of their Adelaide Hills photo shoots. We crossed our fingers and hoped it wouldnt rain and the fruit would be lost and fortunately, this year, the cherry gods have smiled on us!  The fruit stayed on the trees and the photo shoot took place this morning – in the orchard and at some of our best picnic spots.

We are so thrilled to have been selected as a beautiful South Australian location. My Dad (Alan) grows wonderful cherries and takes such good care of the trees and the orchards and my Mum (Merawyn) grows and nurtures stunning gardens.  You can see the results of their work in our photo galleryor in person if you pay us a visit to pick some cherries.  We will post some more photos of the photo shoot later today.

Hello friends and fellow cherry lovers

This newsletter is terribly late but we held off until we were sure that there would be enough ripe cherries to justify opening. From dithering during much of the week the cherries have suddenly ripened and we now have 5 varieties to offer you this weekend 1st and 2nd December. I heard it said once that a fullmoon quickens the ripening and with a full moon during the week I tend to think that there just may be some truth in it. The 5 varieties are:

Moss Early $5 per kg
Chelan $8
Vista $8
Vega (white cherry which to some might seem just on the verge of ripening, to others that’s how they like them) $8
Ron’s Seedling $8

If you come up you may share our view that just about all of our cherries are great looking and those that are ripe taste exceptionally good causing us to think with respect to quakity it might be the best year ever for us. With heavy crops and no damage to speak of picking will be so much easier also..

Check our website after 6pm on Saturday night if you are planning to come on Sunday.

Hello friends and fellow cherry lovers

The moment we have been waiting for is here – ripe, ripe cherries!!
The 2012 harvest is about to begin!!

After a year tending the trees we are gearing up for a great cherry season with a load of beautiful quality fruit, This past week or so there has been a sharp increase in activity on the farm in preparation! It is now up to the weather!!

Starting this coming weekend the 24th/25th November our first variety, Australise, is ready to be picked. It’s a new one for us – an above average cherry in terms of size, colour and taste and has a medium size crop. As we only have the one variety ripe we may be picked out on the Saturday. If you are planning to visit us may wesuggest you try to get here on Saturday and the earlier the better. If you can only be here on Sunday please check our updated website on Saturday night to learn whether cherries will still be available.

Do not worry though if you miss out on Saturday as this is only the start…..there will be a heap of big, beautiul cherries waiting to be picked in the coming weeks! A great bonus this year is the magnificent crop of Summits, the best in years. It’s the big, heart-shaped favourite for many of us.

Price for Australise has remained steady at $8 per kg as has our entry fee of adults $5 and $2 for children under 12.

We look forward to seeing you again here at Stella Creek.
